Cob Building Course
July 30th - August 3rd £125 pp
Join in with our Cob Greenhouse project, learn all about basic cob building techniques, and get excited about mud! We are in the final stages of the cob greenhouse, and are hoping this course will be able to complete our project. We will be putting in a door & window on the east side, using basic timber framing techniques. We will also be learning about spragging, splooging, mushrooming and more! Add to this the art of creating walls from wood and mud, relief sculptures, and an opportunity to try lime and clay plastering , we cram a lot into a little time!
The course fee includes all tuition, and a yummy vegetarian lunch each day, made with local and organic ingredients. It also includes camping space at our lovely community hub building, where you will have full access to the hall and kitchen where you can prepare your own breakfast and supper together. There is an accessible compost loo, and a basic gravity shower too!
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to book.
April 9th - April 15th
May 28th-June 3rd
June 25th - July 2nd
Course fee: £95 for 3 days or £175 for the full 7 days
Our Lammas Eco-pod Crowdfunding began the build, now we need more people to be involved with the build in order to move it on and finish it this summer. It is designed to be a small self contained building, with a timber frame, cordwood walls with lime stabilised cob mortar, and recycled rubber tile roof. It will have a reclaimed polystyrene insulated cob floor, and 12 volt solar power for lights. We are offering 3 separate weeks where you can join in learning about how to build, and help support our amazing little project!
You will be able to learn a wide variety of building techniques, depending on which dates you choose. The first week will be mainly the timber frame and the roof. The second week we expect to finish the roof, start the cordwood walls and install window frames. The third week we hope to finish the cordwood, lay the cob floor, and do any internal plastering and snagging as needed. As with any build it's likely we wont totally finish it in time so may add more dates later in the year.
The course fee includes organic vegetarian lunches, and basic supplies for you to cook together in the evenings and for breakfast, but bring any special food you like to eat! It also includes access to the community building in the evenings, camping space, and a compost loo and gravity shower.
To book please email email@example.com stating which dates you are interested in attending.
